Enter Chrissy (Chrysanthemum) Everstar: Savannah’s gum-chewing, cell phone–carrying, high heel-wearing Fair Godmother. Showing why she’s only Fair—because she’s not a very good fairy student—Chrissy mistakenly sends Savannah back in time to the Middle Ages, first as Cinderella, then as Snow White. Finally she sends Tristan, a boy in Savannah’s class, back instead to turn him into her prom-worthy prince. When Savannah returns to the Middle Ages to save Tristan, they must team up to defeat a troll, a dragon, and the mysterious and undeniably sexy Black Knight. Laughs abound in this clever fairy tale twist from a master of romantic comedy.

Good King Wenceslas

This book is BEAUTIFULLY illustrated!

It explains the Christmas song we sing each year, but until now, at least I, never really understood.

What a beautiful way to teach about the giving of Christmastime and the example of one King to his page.

I also LOVED the side notes explaining "St. Stephen's Day" and what a " Page boy" is;

Along with "life in a castle" and "Christmas celebrations in the middle ages."

The book is wonderful in and of itself,

But there is more!!!

You also get a DVD of Jane Seymour telling this story with the Mormon Tabernacle singing the song and amazing dancers performing.

A true treasure book for Christmas!

SO...

 she dresses up in all these clothes...

AND...

you can see that she is "truly a frightening-looking, horrible, witchey witch..."

BUT...

when she tries to do magic...

nothing happens...

SO...

The Unlikely Gift of Treasure Blume

I REALLY LIKED this book!

This book had me laughing with Treasure and her quirky mannerisms... and of course her spunky grammy... and crazy sweaters...

BUT...

it also had me...feeling...

Feeling the tenderness of a woman as she just goes about trying to do what she thinks is right...and what she thinks will help at the time...

But somehow everyone she meets dislikes her...is that a curse...or a blessing?

Dennis is one who dislikes her...

He is working as a "lunch lady" to be close to his daughter...the daughter who is in Treasures' first grade classroom...

But as Dennis watches Treasure he comes to know the REAL her...the one who cares about other people more than she cares about what those other people think about her...

Don't miss out on reading this book...it is a TREASURE worth finding!

The Official Hero's Guide for Latter-Day Youth

0 comments
This book is AMAZING!

Everyday someone is watching you...can be scary...

But with the advice from this book you can be a hero for that someone!

It is the little things we do each day and the habits that we develop that turn us into hero's... or not...

The eight lessons in this book:

* Achieving heroic courage
* Being a heroic example
* Living a life of heroic service
* Learning heroic leadership
* Finding heroic confidence
* Enduring heroically to the end
* Developing heroic strength
* Learning to live by faith

This book was specifically written for the youth...but as a grown woman I learned quite a few things I need to work on :)

WONDERFUL information!  TONS of exceptional stories!

I can't say enough good about this book!

A definite MUST read if you are interested in becoming a better HERO!

Pride and Precipitation

I LOVE books like this...

Enough romance to make you go "aah"....

Without any worries about what you will read.

Plus this book showed how one girl could stay happy even though life wasn't going as planned...I learned a great lesson here...

Breezy has her dream job of being the "weather girl."

She has worked hard to get there and now it is being taken away because she is too much like Pollyanna.

But is that a bad thing?

Breezy tries hard to maintain her "sunny" attitude and pushes forward into an uncertain future.

A cute, fun read!

The sub-title for this book is:

Powerful Messages in Five Words or Less~

And that is exactly what this book is!

On the right-hand page you read a commentary of that word or phrase.

Forget Me Not

Every woman needs to read this book...

And then they need to read it again and again!

"Inspired by the five petals of the tiny forget-me-not flower, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf reminds us of five things we will be wise to never forget:
  • To be patient with ourselves

  • To distinguish between a good sacrifice and a foolish sacrifice

  • To be happy now

  • To focus on the “why” of the gospel

  • To know that the Lord loves each of us infinitely."

  • PLEASE FORGET NOT!

    As Sisters in Zion

    Shine!

    0 comments
    Sister Dalton wrote this book specifically for the young women of the church. But, we can all learn from the lessons she presents.

    My favorite story in the book:

    When her daughter, Emi,
    was a little girl Sister Dalton
    would help her get ready for
    church by combing her hair
     and putting her in a pretty dress.
    Then Emi would say,
     "Let's put on our shiny."

    With this Sister Dalton would get
    her jar of clear cosmetics
    and apply it to Emi's cheeks
    and lips giving her a shiny glow.

    As we follow the principles in this book we will all glow with the spirit of the Lord.

    In essence we can all put our shiny-on!"

    Gifted musician Catherine Clayton was born into a life of wealth and privilege. Following the death of her father, she makes a bold decision she hopes would make him proud: she's using the family money to establish a music school and offer free lessons to the underprivileged. A providential suggestion from an old college friend leads Catherine to select Riley, New York, as the perfect location for her new school.Hit hard by the economic downturn, Riley personifies economic hardship: peeling paint, overgrown landscapes, and damaged buildings. But the damage runs much deeper than Catherine first realizes. Two years ago, Riley was rocked by weeks of vandalism followed by the brutal murder of beautiful elementary school secretary Olivia Perry. Everyone in town loved Olivia—but especially the two men with whom she was caught in a love triangle. Though the murder remains unsolved, Catherine receives ominous warnings that one of these men, Adam Becket, is responsible for one girl's death. Unimpressed by the lack of evidence against him, Catherine is drawn to the shy but endearing Adam. Could he really have been involved in Olivia's murder?Just as Catherine is settling in and getting to know Adam, a vandal strikes again, and it's eerily reminiscent of the events surrounding Olivia's murder. The death threats splashed on the walls prove that killer is back—and this time, it's Catherine who wonders if she's come to the wrong place at the wrong time.

Life would be hard enough without the worry for their chronically ill child, Nisay, and the added expense of medicines that are not working.
    Just when things seem worst, Sang Ly learns a secret about the ill-tempered rent collector who comes demanding money—a secret that sets in motion a tide that will change the life of everyone it sweeps past. I LOVE Joni Hilton's humor.

    This book takes an interesting look into families and how they function.
    Filled with humor it is fun to read, yet will make you really think about yourself and your family.

    I love the Book Club Questions at the end of the book...
    Here are a few:

    *Do you know any families who are high achievers?
    *How do you measure success?
    *Does you family place and inordinate amount of focus on appearances?
    *Have you ever felt your problems outweigh another person's?
    *Is competition healthy, or is it rooted in jealousy and resentment?

    She also gives a wonderful Funeral Potato recipe! YUM!

    G - Gratitude
    A - Attitude
    P - Prayer
    S - Service
