Meet Author Carole Brown

Carole Brown lives in Southeast Ohio where she and her husband enjoy their grandsons and play the game of grandparenting for all their worth! Good food, whether at home or in finer restaurants, walks in the woods, reading some good, keeper books, occasional boating and fishing and camping outings, and collaborating on their children's books are some favorite activities.

She's always on the lookout for catchy titles and suspenseful plots. The Redemption of Caralynne Hayman, her debut inspirational novel, was a ACFW Genesis semi-finalist.

Carole has written her whole life as newspaper reporter, editor of journals and newsletters, and research manuscripts. When not penning her own novels, she enjoys mentoring beginning writers and founded a writer’s group called Circle of Pens where she can mentor to her heart’s content. Her passion for serving continues in her secretarial work and coordinator for the state of Ohio with ACFW.

She and her husband have traveled extensively throughout the United States ministering and counseling. They have particularly enjoyed the western states where they’ve labored with the Native Americans.

Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, Washington provided lots of memories and along with many other specific places, she's gathered folder for her writings.

10 FUN FACTS ABOUT CAROLE

1. First dinner item I burned after I was married? Biscuits. So hard the animals wouldn’t touch them.

2. When I was a kid I wanted to be a detective, airplane stewardess (we called them then), and a writer. When I grew up I became a teacher, a wife, mother, teacher, minister’s wife, church pianist and occasional singer, cook--because I had to and sometimes cause I liked to, cake decorator, party planner, choir director, traveler, author, teacher (did I mention this?) and finally--a grandmother.

3. If I could be anything I wanted other than an author, I’d choose either photography or landscaping cause I like to dabble in both!

4. In our travels, we’ve climbed mountains to look at ancient ruins, panned for gold, eaten fried sheep’s intestines, worked in soup kitchens, ministered to “Bonnie and Clyde” types, tried my hand at spinning yarn and hand-tossing fry bread dough with the American Navajos, visited a ghost town, seen more than ¾ of the U.S. states, gone camping in December (northern state), owned a shark one time, gone through the eight-mile tunnel in Alabama, visited the Mt. Helen’s volcano, been as far north in the United States, as Washington state, Minnesota and Wisconsin, and Maine, saw blind fish in a cavern lake, saw the Budweiser horses in person, almost met President Reagan, and much more!

5. I love rocks! Really. I try to collect at least one from every state we’ve visited. I also collect (besides rocks!) elephants, music boxes (unique, interesting, or antique), quotes, and mugs that capture my attention.

6. Animals interest me. I’ve always had a love for Collie dogs especially perhaps because of the Lassie series and the Laddie book.

7. I’m faithful and loyal and know how to keep my mouth shut if entrusted with a secret. I love life, my family and friends. God is important to me. I’m also determined to do what I feel I need or want to do; I don’t like being told I can’t do something (for silly reasons, of course.)

8. I always fluff my pillow at night then plop it down onto the bed. Ritual every night. Of course, this mildly annoys hubby because I usually retire later than he does.

9. My favorite snacks: ice cream and popcorn.

10. I once owned a--get ready!--428 super Cobra jet, police interceptor engine, cherry red, black vinyl top, scoop, slant back Mustang. If I had it now, it would be worth close to $30,000. Is that reason enough to kill the person who wrecked it? Just kidding!

Bonus? I’m awkward. I fall over my own feet, down stairs, over my big ole collie, and almost drowned myself in the sink.

Carole's book WITH MUSIC IN THEIR HEARTS is a clean, inspirational light romantic suspense.

Angry at being rejected for military service, Minister Tyrell Walker accepts the call to serve as a civilian spy within his own country. Across the river from Cincinnati, Ohio, a spy working for a foreign country is stealing secret plans for newly developed ammunition to be used in the war. According to his FBI cousin, this spy favors pink stationery giving strong indications that a woman is involved.

He’s instructed to obtain a room in the Rayner Boarding House run by the lovely, spunky red-haired Emma Jaine Rayner. Sparks of jealousy and love fly between them immediately even as they battle suspicions that one or the other is not on the up and up.

While Tyrell searches for the murdering spy who reaches even into the boarding home, Emma Jaine struggles with an annoying renter, a worried father (who could be involved in this spy thing), and two younger sisters who are very different but just as strong willed as she is.

As Tyrell works to keep his double life a secret and locate the traitor, he refuses to believe that Emma Jaine could be involved even when he sees a red-haired woman in the arms of another man. Could the handsome and svelte banker who’s also determined to win Emma Jaine’s hand for marriage, be the dangerous man he’s looking for? Is the trouble-making renter who hassles Emma Jaine serving as a flunky? Worse, is Papa Rayner so worried about his finances and keeping his girls in the style they’re used to, that he’ll stoop to espionage?

Will their love survive the danger and personal issues that arise to hinder the path of true love?
