I am holding her upcoming book,
THE CANDY CANE CAPER

About the Book
The theft of a friend’s priceless, family-legacy Christmas ornaments brings amateur detective and culinary expert, Sadie Hoffmiller, back on the case in a new standalone cozy mystery.

In the latest chapter to the Culinary Mystery series, amateur detective Sadie Hoffmiller continues combining her sleuthing with her cooking and baking to connect with people and gain information she might otherwise not have access to. Moreover, now that Sadie is married to Detective Pete Cunningham, she has a street-savvy husband to test out her crime-solving theories.

With Christmas approaching, Sadie is preparing for a large blended-family gathering—including many new grandchildren—in their home in Fort Collins, Colorado. Even with the festive chaos, Sadie drops everything when word gets out that her friend, Mary, is the victim of a holiday robbery.

At ninety-four years old, and nearly blind, Mary knows this is may be her last Christmas and the last year to enjoy her family heirloom Christmas tree ornaments. She wants just one more holiday to display her ornaments and following Christmas Eve Mass, she’ll pass them on to her great-granddaughter, Joy. Though priceless to the family, the collection has been valued at $40,000, and the Christmas tree in the care facility has never looked so good. But before the ornaments can be retrieved by Mary, eleven of the most expensive ornaments are stolen.

A holiday Christmas caper might be new to Sadie, but she’s ready to mix in her seasoned crime-solving skills with a pinch of new holiday recipes.

My Thoughts
I had a chance to read an Advanced Readers Copy and I completely adored this book! In fact it is my favorite Sadie book! The story setting is wonderful. The crime is perfect-- until Sadie solves it :) The recipes are calling my name and the ending is heart-melting. LOVED. LOVED. LOVED. IT!

KISS OF THE SPINDLE
by Nancy Campbell Allen

A steampunk Sleeping Beauty story-

Doctor Isla Cooper is cursed. Literally. Each night, at the stroke of midnight she falls into a death-like sleep from which she cannot be awakened for six hours. To make it worse, the curse has an expiration date--after a year, it becomes permanent. And the year is almost up.

In a desperate attempt to find Malette--the witch who cursed her--Isla blackmails her way onto Daniel Pickett's private airship bound for the Caribbean, only to discover she's traveling with three illegal shapeshifters and the despicable Nigel Crowe, a government official determined to hunt down and exterminate every shapeshifter in England. Isla and Daniel must work together to keep the identities of the shapeshifters hidden while coming to terms with their own hidden secrets, and their blossoming attraction to each other.

Filled with suspense, intrigue, and plenty of romance, Kiss of the Spindle is steampunk Sleeping Beauty story. It is a race against the clock as Isla and Daniel try to hunt down the elusive Malette before Isla's death-like sleep becomes permanent.

My Thoughts
This book is SO GOOD! The fairy tale twist is wonderful, the steampunk theme is intriguing, and the writing is fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed this one!

JULIE WRIGHT

"Julie Wright (1972-still breathing) was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. She's lived in LA, Boston, and the literal middle of nowhere (don't ask). She wrote her first book when she was fifteen. Since then, she's written twenty three novels and coauthored three. Julie is a two-time winner of the Whitney award for best romance with her books "Cross My Heart" and "Lies Jane Austen Told Me" and has also won the Crown Heart award.

She has one husband, three kids, one grand baby, one dog, and a varying amount of houseplants (depending on attrition). She loves writing, reading, traveling, hiking, playing with her kids, and watching her husband make dinner. She hates mayonnaise."

I am holding her books,
Lies Jane Austen Told Me and
Lies, Love, and Breakfast at Tiffany's

Lies Jane Austen Told Me
Ever since Emma read Pride and Prejudice, she's been in love with Mr. Darcy and has regarded Jane Austen as the expert on all things romantic. So naturally when Emma falls for Blake Hampton and he invites her home to meet his parents, she is positive an engagement is in her future. After all, Blake is a single man in possession of a good fortune, and thus must be in want of a wife.

But when it turns out that what Blake actually wants is more of a hook-up than a honeymoon, Emma is hurt, betrayed, and furious. She throws herself deeper into her work as CMO of Kinetics, the fastest growing gym franchise in the nation. She loves her work, and she's good at it, which is why she bristles when her boss brings in a consultant to help her spearhead the new facilities on the East Coast. Her frustration turns to shock when that consultant turns out to be Blake's younger brother, Lucas.

Emma is determined not to fall for Lucas, but as she gets to know him, she realizes that Lucas is nothing like his brother. He is kind and attentive and spends his time and money caring for the less fortunate.

What she can't understand is why Lucas continues to try to push her back into Blake's arms when he so clearly has fallen as hard for her as she has fallen for him.

Realizing that her love life is as complicated as anything Jane Austen could have dreamed up, Emma must find a way to let Blake know that it's time for him to let her go and to let Lucas know it's time for him to love her back.

My Thoughts
LOVED. LOVED. LOVED. THIS. BOOK! So fun! Remarkable writing! Adored that Emma kept taking advice from Jane Austen but then would throw the book in the garbage can -- only to pick it up again :)

Very intriguing backgrounds of the characters made the book real and kept my interest throughout the entire book. YOU WILL WANT A COPY OF THIS ONE FOR SURE!

Lies, Love, and Breakfast at Tiffany's
The Lie
Women in Hollywood are just pretty faces. But Silvia Bradshaw knows that’s a lie, and she’s ready to be treated as an equal and prove her worth as one of Hollywood’s newest film editors.

The Love
She and Ben Mason had worked together as editors before Silvia got her big break, so he’s the perfect person to ask for feedback on her first major film. But even as their friendship begins to blossom into something more, a lawsuit surfaces, jeopardizing both of their jobs—as well as their fledgling romance. Audrey Hepburn once said: “The most important things is to enjoy your life—to be happy—it’s all that matters.” Silvia agrees. Or she used to. It’s one thing to risk her job and her heart, but can she really risk Ben’s too? Does she have the right to make decisions for her own happiness when they affect so many other people?

The Breakfast
With everything to lose, Silvia meets Ben for breakfast at his favorite diner, Tiffany’s, for one last conversation before the credits roll on true love.

My Thoughts
What a FUN BOOK! LOVED the Audrey Hepburn theme! Julie is quickly becoming one of my most favorite authors! This is a MUST-READ for sure-

THE BEST IS YET TO COME
by Clint Pulver

Making decisions in life can be extremely challenging. The toughest part is knowing which choice is the right one, especially during times of doubt, uncertainty, and pressure.

We sometimes find ourselves asking questions like, "What if I make the wrong choice? What if I fail? What if things don't work out?"

In this high-energy and inspiring talk, Clint Pulver outlines a road map for how to live a life by design and not by default.

With hilarious stories and examples from his own life, he shares simple and effective tools, strategies, and ideas for anyone who is trying to find direction, and, wants to get on track and on purpose with the Lord.

Clint says that sometimes our best plans hit roadblocks, but often in life,

"good things fall apart
so that better things can fit together."

He says that with the help of our Heavenly Father, we can design a life of significance, not just success, and we can know that when things look bleak, the best is yet to come.

My Thoughts
WOW! This talk is AMAZING! Clint Pulver is a powerful speaker! If you like John Bytheway and Hank Smith you will love Clint Pulver! He shares personal stories to illustrate sound principles that will help you find focus in your life. I love the overall theme of "live a life by design and not by default." While this talk was recorded in front of a group of teenagers, I believe everyone needs to hear it!
