This book had me giggling out loud-
ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!
Amazing creativity! Darling pictures!
You think you have problems--
Wait until you read about a penguin's problems!
Every kid needs a copy of this--even us big kids :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A penguin levels with human readers about what penguin life is really like—and it isn’t all fun and games.
(Click on the pictures to make them more readable)
Have you ever considered running away to Antarctica? Of course you have! Because it’s a land free of worries and responsibilities! All of your problems will surely be blown away by the icy winds of that lawless paradise! . . . Won’t they?
Think again, my friend. This penguin has come to tell you that his life down there is no more a picnic than yours is here. For starters, it is FREEZING. Also, penguins have a ton of natural predators. Plus, can you imagine trying to find your mom in a big ol’ crowd of identical penguins? No, thank you.
Yes, it seems there is no escaping the drudgery of your daily grind, whatever it might be. Or perhaps we’ve just learned that grumps are everywhere. . . .
I CAN FORGIVE WITH GOD
by Ganel-Lyn Condie
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This book needs to be read by everyone! The stories are so tender-- It is amazing how life gives us challenges, but through those challenges we have a chance to grow. These women not only grew, but they forgave-- such a great gift. Forgiveness and healing are possible-- but only with God's help. These women will show you how. My heart goes out to each and every one of them. They are such great examples to me. If they can forgive then you and I can too. I highly recommend this book!

THE LADY OF THE LAKES
by Josi S. Kilpack

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was so drawn to this book! I couldn't wait throughout the day until I could pick it up again and read. It is such a compelling story.
Love given. Love taken. Love lost. Love found. SO GOOD!
I think it is the best story Josi S. Kilpack has told to date!
And to know it is based on the true love story of Sir Walter Scott makes it all the more captivating. LOVED. LOVED. LOVED. IT!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It's 1796 and nineteen-year-old Walter Scott is in love. For the past few years, he has been engaged in a long-distance courtship, writing love letters to his childhood sweetheart, Mina.

Though both Walter and Mina are young and from different stations in society, they share the same love of literature, a passionate temperament, and a restless heart. They know their love is meant to be. Walter feels sure Mina is the muse he needs to bring every dream of his life to fruition. But the distance between the two lovers proves too great, and when Mina meets the handsome and charming William Forbes, she is swept away, and the two quickly announce their engagement.

Brokenhearted, Walter takes refuge in the lake country of England where he resigns himself to life of misery and heartache. But then he meets Charlotte, a French girl, who, at twenty-six, has resigned herself to the fact that she will never find love. Despite their age difference, the two become cautious friends, but Charlotte's quiet disposition and keen mind intrigue Walter. She is so different from Mina, yet perhaps, for Walter, it may be that his perfect match is a woman who calms him and helps him keep his feet on the ground. Though wary of risking his heart a second time, he finds himself falling deeply in love with her.

In the end, he is able to forgive Mina, forget his heartbreak, and forge ahead in a new relationship, realizing that there is a vast difference between a man's ''first love'' and his ''true love.''

A PLACE FOR MISS SNOW
by Jennifer Moore

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
LOVED THIS ONE! Miss Snow is AMAZING!
What was a simple chaperone assignment turns into a rescue mission for captured children and all because of a chance meeting of A MAN--are you intrigued???
You will be enthralled at Miss Snow's tenacity, creativity, determination, and cleverness.
And then there is Alexandros-----SO GOOD!
I highly recommend this one!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Miss Diana Snow is everything a British chaperone should be—she finds satisfaction in order and depends wholly upon the rules of decorum as she negotiates the isle of Greece with her young charge. But Miss Snow’s prim and proper exterior masks a disquieting past: orphaned and alone in the world, she has only her stiff upper lip to rely upon. When a brief encounter with a handsome stranger challenges her rules of propriety, Diana is unwittingly drawn into an adventure that will turn her ordered world upside down.

Alexandros Metaxas is a Greek spy working to recruit individuals to the cause of revolution. His mission seems to be going perfectly until he encounters Diana Snow, a captivating—if slightly cold—beauty. When their paths cross again, the ill-fated reunion threatens all Alex has been fighting for. But more importantly, it places Diana’s life in jeopardy. There is only one way to save her: they must put themselves at the mercy of the most powerful pirate family in the Mediterranean. Soon, Diana is plunged into a fantastic world of gypsy curses, blood feuds, and unexpected romance. But when a bitter vendetta places her in mortal danger, will she have the courage to fight for life and love?

Mother Nature: the world’s most innovative KILLER . . . Deep in the jungles of Venezuela, mycologist Dr. Julia Fatheringham is engrossed in her study of native fungi. But what begins as a standard research trip quickly spirals into chaos when her associate’s erratic behavior results in his horrifying death. Soon, Julia makes a startling discovery: her partner was contaminated by an organism found only in insects. It alters the victim’s mind in alarming ways, with an invariably deadly outcome. Julia is baffled by her discovery—this organism has never appeared in humans. It shouldn’t be possible. There is only one terrifying conclusion: the infection has jumped species.

Now, in this remote corner of the world, a contagion of unparalleled horror rests in Julia’s hands. But even as she works to contain the organism that could spell devastation of apocalyptic proportions, there are others with a different agenda. They’ve learned of her discovery and will go to any lengths to acquire a sample—there is good money to be had in eco-terrorism. Armed only with her strength of mind and what courage she can gather, Julia prepares to battle the devastating scourge—and the terrorists determined to unleash it upon humanity.

SOUTHERN CHARMED
by Melanie Jacobson

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I absolutely loved this book! It was exactly what I needed this week! The southern flair was SO FUN-- I adored the relationship between Lila Mae and Max, but what really captured my heart was the side story of Kiana--BRILLIANT WRITING!
Snatch up a copy of this book for a fantastic read!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Lila Mae Guidry is a Southern girl through and through. As a fourth-generation Latter-day Saint in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she's proud of her heritage as both a Southerner and a Saint—and she doesn't take kindly to people who disparage either. Ten years ago, Max Archer was just that kind of jerk. As the mission president's son, Max spent his entire three years mocking the South . . . and teenage Lila. After Max's family moved away, Lila forgot about her sworn enemy. Almost.

When a new job brings a grown-up Max back to Baton Rouge, Lila is less than thrilled with his reappearance, especially since everyone seems intent on throwing her together with this old adversary. Yet fight as she may, Lila soon realizes resistance is futile—their connection is undeniable. Max embodies everything she wants in a man—except perhaps the most important thing her life is rooted in the city she loves, but his dreams are bigger than Baton Rouge. With such mismatched visions of the future, Max and Lila are faced with a life-altering decision: jeopardize their aspirations or risk losing love.

THE SPIDER AND THE SPARROW
by A. L. Sowards

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
War stories intrigue me! The people have such a passion to do anything to aid in the 'war effort.' Lives are put on the line, but lives are also being lost, so if they can help, they will--Such bravery!
I cannot even imagine being a spy, or being put in a war prison, or trying to escape enemy territory--within these pages you will experience it all. This book is one that you will want to read!
So well written you will feel as if you are right there too-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

May 1915. After tragedy strikes during the Second Battle of Artois, Frenchman Julian Olivier will do anything to get out of the trenches. So when British Intelligence recruits him to spy behind enemy lines, he jumps at the opportunity. Just before he begins, however, he has a chance encounter with a young French woman who leaves his heart marked for the remainder of the war—even if he doesn’t know her name.

Warren Flynn is a Canadian airborne hero, and dogfights with the Germans are all in a day’s work. Second only to his love of flying is his fascination with Claire Donovan, the daughter of an American munitions manufacturer living in Paris. Warren flies Julian into Germany and soon receives orders to post the Allies’ newest operative—an attractive peasant woman named Evette—in Claire’s home.

As a dangerous ring of spies and saboteurs threatens to turn the war against the Allies, Julian discovers goodness in his enemies’ hearts. But even if he survives, will he ever be reunited with the woman whose memory he can’t erase? Will Warren survive the war, and will Evette unearth the infiltrator in her own territory before it’s too late?

LET GOD LOVE YOU
by Wendy Ulrich

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This book is PHENOMENAL!
So many thoughts worth pondering!
Filled with stories that you can relate to--
you will discover a desire to strengthen your relationship with our Heavenly Father and find the help to do so.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What have you learned about yourself from your past and current relationships? We learn who we are and what we can hope for from others in the context of our relationships with family, friends, and others around us. Some of what we have learned and experienced may even blind us to what is really true about God, leaving us both yearning for and afraid of closeness with Him.

Coupling the teachings of Christ and His prophets with gospel-oriented ideas from her counseling background, Wendy Ulrich probes faulty assumptions that we may bring to our relationship with God. By understanding and healing these false beliefs and then following the teachings of Christ about how we can ''come unto Him,'' we learn to see God more accurately, rely on Him more trustingly, and become strengthened in His love.

Deliverance
by H. B. Moore

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Absolutely loved this one!
Intriguing, capturing, could not put it down!
So well written--
This bible story will never be thought of the same again!
You MUST READ this one!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Experience the life of Moses as never before, following his journey from fugitive of Egypt to prophet of God.

In this exhilarating follow-up to H.B. Moore’s biblical drama The Moses Chronicles: Bondage, the account of Moses’s flight from Egypt continues. Moses’s life as he knew it is over. He has chosen to stand for his beliefs at the cost of being cast out of his royal home and family. He is free of the wickedness of Egypt, but peace is not to be found, for Moses is as much an aimless wanderer as those in the nomadic tribe he encounters in the wilderness.

Exhausted by long weeks of travel, he nevertheless jumps to action when he observes a group of young women accosted by a band of Bedrayan men at a communal well. These lovely daughters of Jethro are grateful for his help, and their Midianite tribe welcomes Moses with open arms.

As he learns the ways of the Midianites, his kinship with Jethro grows—as does his admiration of one of Jethro’s daughters, Zipporah. But when Moses suddenly receives a burning call to free the very people he has long oppressed, will he have the courage to return to the land from which he has been exiled?

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! the illustrations!
This is definitely one to read!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A new series written and illustrated by the illustrator of the Fablehaven series, Brandon Dorman!
Meet the Hooligan brothers who are fun-loving, go-cart racing, up-for-anything boys, and they are expert pranksters! The school bully, Rock, picks on the boys, tries to out-prank them and especially tries to lay blame for his pranks on them. Enter a purple, blobby, friendly outer space alien. He's come to Earth to earn badges for his "extraterrestrial space scout" sash. The brothers name him Hoolie and quickly learn about his alien ways:
* Hoolie gets smelly when he s hungry and that's how the boys know it's time to feed him. He eats clothes, especially socks. Mom and Dad don't know what is going on originally, but then later on, when they become more involved in the situation, they figure out why the family socks are disappearing from the Hooligan house.
* He has a compartment in his belly, like Mary Poppins' carpetbag, that can somehow hold an endless supply of neat gizmos and gadgets.
* The boys can't communicate with him at first and rig up an electronic device to help them read Hoolie's mind.
The Hooligan boys keep Hoolie a secret until he saves a neighborhood girl from a burning building, and the town befriends him. Then a team of mysterious strangers dressed in black who call themselves "Animal Control" arrive, but the Hooligan boys know this can't be true. The boys must resolve their problem with Rock, help Hoolie earn his merit badges on Earth, and help him find his way home before "Animal Control" captures him!"
