QUARANTINED IN THE OFFICE
by Lucy McConnell

I can't let the coronavirus get in the way of my big presentation.

But maybe I should have checked my email this morning...

Because now I'm quarantined in the office with my biggest rival--Andrew. If I didn't have to compete against him for every account, I'd probably fall in love with him.

He's that wonderful...

And we're all alone.

Find out what happens in this sweet, romantic, short read about uncertain times and finding the best parts of life when life is upside-down.

Read it today!

NOTE FROM AUTHOR
Dear Reader,
I'm pretty sure love can grow anywhere. It's grown on battlefields, in the trenches, it even re-grows in broken marriages. That's why I wanted to write the Quarantine Romance Short Reads. They are about five sisters, all over the globe, who are caught up in the COVID-19 pandemic.

My Thoughts
The world is crazy strange right now. It will forever be a time to remember. How fun that an author wrote some of what is going on down on paper. I was too intrigued and just had to get the book. Super short, super easy to read, super fun!

The Milkman's Son

THE MILKMAN'S SON
by Randy Lindsay

Raised in a family he bore little resemblance to, Randy was jokingly referred to as "the milkman's son." This warm and candid memoir chronicles the unraveling of a family secret, which begins with Randy's dad having dreams about deceased relatives urging him to complete their family tree. Randy agrees to help with the genealogy, but after his searching leads to a dead end, he takes a commercially available DNA test. The results reveal a possible genetic match to a sister, which begins a familial quest that forever changes the author's life.

Featuring a cast of vivid characters richly drawn from two distinct families, The Milkman's Son reveals one man's family tree, pulling back layers of new information as he gets closer to the truth—a biological father, siblings, and family members he never knew about.

This is a story of accepting, forgiving, and reuniting. Most importantly, it's about the bonds that connect us and the unconditional love that makes us feel like we belong.

My Thoughts
I was fascinated with this book! I am a fan of family skeleton's in the closet, so I loved the concept of finding a family secret within a DNA test. Told in such a compelling way, you will want to read to the very end. I highly recommend this book!

The Wish and the Peacock

THE WISH AND THE PEACOCK
by Wendy S. Swore

Be Strong and Wish Big

Paige's favorite family tradition on the farm is the annual bonfire where everyone tosses in a stone and makes a wish. This time, Paige's specific wish is one she's not sure can come ture: Don't let Mom and Grandpa sell the farm.

When Paige's younger brother finds a wounded peacock in the barn, Paige is sure it's a sign that if she can keep the bird safe, she'll keep the farm safe too. Peacocks, after all, are known to be fierce protectors of territory and family.

With determination and hard work, Paige tries to prove she can save the farm on her own, but when a real estate agent stakes a "For Sale" sign at the end of the driveway and threatens everything Paige loves, she calls on her younger brother and her best friends, Mateo and Kimana, to help battle this new menace. They may not have street smarts, but they have plenty of farm smarts, and some city lady who's scared of spiders should be easy enough to drive away.

But even as the peacock gets healthier, the strain of holding all the pieces of Paige's world together gets harder. Faced with a choice between home and family, she risks everything to make her wish come true, including the one thing that scares her the most: letting the farm go.

My Thoughts
What a fun book! I loved that the kids felt empowered enough to take matters into their own hands. A great motivator for anyone who reads this book. Perfect for the whole family.

UNDER THE STARS
by Carolyn Twede Frank

When the new marshal in town needs volunteers, one of the first to sign up is Miss Rosie Decker. And why wouldn’t she? She’s a sharpshooting, horse-taming tomboy—and she’s out for revenge. Marshal Hank Walker is forming a posse to find the man who killed her sweetheart, and Rosie is determined to help track him down. When the marshal refuses her service on account of her being a woman, Rosie is undeterred. If it’s a man Marshal Walker wants, it’s a man he’ll get.

With his posse assembled, Hank Walker is confident he’ll be able to track down the criminal. His confidence grows as he recognizes the incomparable skill of one young man in his posse—Ross. That is, until the day Ross’s mustache falls off, revealing “his” true identity. Rosie Decker has duped him. Banished back to town, it’s time for Rosie to prove her mettle. Though working alongside the unwilling marshal is complicated, it is the unexpected tenderness she feels for him that proves most problematic. How can she demonstrate her skill while also setting out to win the heart of the man who seems bent on keeping her out of his way?

My Thoughts
I absolutely loved this book! It was SO FUN! So many awesome scenes. So many fantastic conversations. I adored the complicated relationship between Rosie and Hank. A fantastic read!

THE DIVINE GIFT OF FORGIVENESS

Sunday on Monday Podcast

The SUNDAY on MONDAY Study Group, is a weekly podcast gathering that digs in to the scriptures from the current COME, FOLLOW ME study -

Hosted by Tammy Uzelac Hall, a former fulltime Seminary and Institute teacher and featuring women just like you who want to get more out of their weekly scripture study.

Broken into six segments so you may study a little each day or all at once-- your choice.

Did you know that the Book of Mormon doesn't begin with "I, Nephi?" In our first study group of 2020, Tammy and her friends Sharmaine and Tamu dig into the real beginning of the Book of Mormon — the introductory pages — and share how the entire purpose of the Book of Mormon can be found in just four simple words: Show - Know - Not Cast Off - Convince.
My Thoughts
I LOVE the Sunday on Monday Podcast! I adore listening to other people's personal feelings about what we are studying in the scriptures. It really helps me to have someone explain things. It also encourages me to study further on my own.

The Everlasting Light

THE EVERLASTING LIGHT
by Elder David A. Bednar

During the Christmas season we are surrounded by lights—on trees, in and on our homes, all around us. In this Christmas message, Elder David A. Bednar invites us to remember He who is the source of all light by visualizing ourselves as participants in the Nephite Christmas story. This account of the first Christmas "helps us to learn and more fully understand that Jesus Christ is the 'Light which shineth in darkness,'...dispels fear, provides assurance and direction, and engenders enduring peace and joy." As we liken this story to ourselves, we can recognize "the everlasting Light" and be filled with the true spirit of Christmas.

My Thoughts
I love how Elder Bednar describes "light" and "dark" in the life of Christ and how he helps us visualize those times. It really helps to explain how Christ truly is "the source of all light." I highly recommend this booklet.
