PALADIN: PAWN
by Micahel D. Young

This book is FANTASTIC!

Rich is waiting for a package...(love this scene)

What he doesn't realize is that he already has two other packages lying on his dresser that are from his grandmother.

As he opens the first package he finds "a white chess pawn with his initials engraved on it."

As he opens the second package strange things happen and a dark voice calls out a challenge.

Rich is so confused and not sure what is going on~

Later that night his grandmother goes missing.

After days of searching Rich discovers an unusual mural at the back of his grandmother's closet.

And in front of that mural stands a chess board...Rich tentatively places his pawn on the table.

With that movement Rich "unwittingly becomes a Paladin, a white knight, in training."

The challenge has now begun...

Can Rich complete the four tasks given him before "his Nemesis, a dark knight in training," completes his.

Wait until you read what his tasks are and who is helping him and who it might be that is trying to destroy him.

So many FUN SCENES throughout the book!
This one is for the whole family!
ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!

About the Author
I am from Arizona, I have four kids that I kind of like, depends on the day. I used to collect a lot of different things. Comics, baseball cards, precious stones, toys, movies, music, stuff like that. But this is what is a little weird about me. I didn’t like to read comics, I wasn’t a big baseball fan. I couldn’t tell you the difference between a sapphire and a ruby besides that their different colors. So why did I collect them? This is a bit embarrassing, because I thought I was going to get rich, by holding on to them… guess what, it didn’t work.

Before becoming an author I was a filmmaker. I made a couple of independent films and documentaries. I always believed that filmmaking was my greatest passion, but then I finally heeded my wife’s nagging and sat down to write a book. I haven’t made a movie or thought about filmmaking since. I have written two books and am in the process of writing a third. Death’s Academy is my second novel.

What an AMAZING series!
A fantastic adventure in finding hidden gems!
LOVED IT!

Sara has the Emerald Ring (read about that HERE)

Now in a place, not so far away, Melanie is home for spring break.

Among the excitement of Mardi Gras, jazz band and voodoo, Melanie finds a secret room that holds a secret journal from her late Aunt Florence.

Everyone said that Aunt Flo was crazy, even mad, and the diary might prove that as it contains the story of Flo's necklace that she claims used to belong to Cleopatra.

Aunt Flo goes on to describe how the necklace can help the wearer hear the thoughts of other people, even those who are dead.

Was Aunt Flo really crazy or could she really hear the voices she claims to have heard?

And so the adventure begins and Melanie and her best friend Sybil, follow the clues to find the missing necklace.

Go with them into "crumbling graveyards, busy streets of the French Quarter, and then into murky swamps" as they search not only for the missing necklace but the other gems that used to belong to Cleopatra.

But beware, a dangerous cult is also seeking the gems....

Can Sara, now working with Melanie, find them before they are lost forever?

A FUN fantasy to be enjoyed by the WHOLE family!

What an AMAZINGLY FUN story!
EVERYONE needs to read it!

Fun for ALL ages!

What would bullies do if every prank they pulled came around like a boomerang?

That is exactly what happens to Sully and his gang.

If they hit someone in the face then something ends up hitting them in their face.

If they make someone's lunch tray drop and splatter then something happens and their lunch tray drops from their hands and splatters all over them.

WHO or WHAT could be causing all of this?

It is "the one" who has been sent to "restore balance" before something dreadfully awful happens...And his name is KARMACK!

LOVED this story!
WOW!

Remember ~
What goes around, comes around...
Make it GOOD and SHARE this BOOK!

J. C. Whyte has graciously offered to do an
eBook giveaway for MY readers :)

a Rafflecopter giveaway

10 FUN things to know about the Author
1.) I'm a vegetarian who hates most vegetables

2.) Yet I love mashed potatoes and would live exclusively on them if potatoes weren't so high in calories

3.) I've always loved to write, but for the first half of my life didn't much care for reading (now I do!)

4.) I write fiction, but usually read non-fiction (go figure)

5.) I have two sons although I prayed for a daughter during each pregnancy -- but now I have a granddaughter (yay!)

6.) My first career was in hospital public relations, even though I don't believe in visiting doctors on a regular basis (blah!)

7.) I also used to be a travel agent who seldom traveled; lost that career due to 9-11

8.) I graduated from law school and passed the Bar at age 56, but didn't practice law for more than a few years

9.) I'm a dyed-in-the-wool feminist and insisted on keeping my maiden name; no worries -- I just celebrated my 40th wedding anniversary

10.) As you can see from this list, my husband is a saint for putting up with all my contrariness!

Other interesting things About the Author
J.C. Whyte discovered her love for writing at the age of eleven when her 6th grade teacher told the class to write a poem about a sport. She knew her classmates would probably choose a popular sport like baseball or football, so J.C. chose to write a funny poem about golf. To her surprise, the teacher really loved it and encouraged J.C. to continue writing. So she did.

Then that summer, students were told to choose 26 books from a reading list, read them and write a book report on each. BLAH! J.C. wanted to enjoy her summer, not spend it reading. Back then, she was a very slow reader and didn’t much enjoy the experience. Plus, kids didn’t have the fun books which are available today. But her wise teacher told J.C. she could write 26 stories instead of reading them. That was genius. J.C. didn’t actually write a full 26 stories, but she wrote at least one which made her teacher laugh out loud in class. And the teacher gave her an “A” on her summer reading assignment. J.C. never forgot that wise and wonderful teacher who let the budding author play to her strengths.

So as a result, J.C. knew at an early age she wanted to become a professional writer. Yet when she reached college, she also understood that writing stories seldom paid the bills. So she got her degrees in Journalism and Communications Management. Then for many years she channeled her creative energies into the field of Public Relations.

Marriage, kids, and several more degrees and occupations later (including stints as a travel agent and paralegal), J.C. entered law school – mostly because of the challenge of writing creative arguments for the court. But while in law school, she became a columnist for the student newsletter, writing humorous pieces on the strange and quirky life of a law student. She was thrilled when one of these articles was chosen for publication in The National Jurist, a magazine distributed to law students throughout the USA.

But after graduating and passing the Bar, J.C. realized within a few years that creative writing was still what made her heart sing. So now, as a grandma, she’s returned to writing for children. And with the publication of Karmack, J.C. has come full circle, back to where her writing journey truly began.

Genre: Fairytale

About the Author
Danyelle Leafty writes upper MG and YA fantasy, and is the author of THE FAIRY GODMOTHER DILEMMA series. Danyelle has always loved fairy tales, and prefers stories where someone gets eaten, or at the very least, transmogrified.

danyelle
Much of her inspiration has come from fairy tales, because as G.K. Chesterton so aptly states, "Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten." In her spare time, she collects dragons, talking frogs, and fairy godmothers. She also collects books, and one day hopes to make a house out of them. She enjoys learning languages, fiddling with her harp, and perfecting the fine art of mothering. (It's a lot like trying to herd chickens during a lightning storm while a goat stampede is going on.)

One of her heroes is Albert Einstein, particularly for the following quote: "Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The most important thing is not to stop questioning."

FAR WORLD: AIR KEEP
Book Details:
Release Date: February 2013
Publisher: Shadow Mountain
Genre: Middle Fantasy

Book Description:
The adventure continues…

It’s been six months since Marcus and Kyja obtained the help of the land and water elementals, but before they can secure the help from the mysterious air elementals, the two friends must first be reunited. A task easier said than done.

Master Therapass is worried that trying to pull Marcus to Farworld would put him in danger of the shadow realm, but if Marcus stays on Earth, he'll be sent back to the Philo T. Justice School for Boys instead of being able to stay on the protected grounds of the monastery.

While attempting to return to Farworld, Marcus find himself in the Abyss of Time, facing four doors: the Is the Was, the Will Be, and the Never Was. What he learns in that dangerous place has the potential to change his life—and Kyja's. But does he have the courage to tell her what he learned?

And in Farworld, a drought, floods, and blizzards have seized the land, hinting that perhaps there is a traitor in the elementals' midst. The Dark Circle is growing in power, and as Marcus and Kyja desperately search for the air elementals, they must first answer the question "Is there anyone we can trust?"

My Review:
This book has been YEARS in the making...but so worth the wait.
Yes...the adventure continues...and what an amazing adventure it is!
As I was reading I kept thinking..."this is as good as Fablehaven."
And "this is as good as Lord of the Rings."

You will fall in love with the characters and cheer them on as they battle to bring together not only Water, Land, Air, and Fire but also Far World and Earth.

While the story is written as a middle reader it has kept me plenty entertained!
My husband and grown boys have read this series too and loved it as well.

This series is a definite must read for all ages :)

Far World: Land Keep
Book Details:
Release Date: 2009
Publisher: Shadow Mountain
Genre: Middle Fantasy

Book Description:
Four mythical Elementals — Water, Land, Air, and Fire — have the power to save two worlds, Earth and Farworld, from a common enemy: the Dark Circle. In book one, Water Keep, a portal has been opened between the two worlds, allowing Marcus, from Earth, and Kyja, from Farworld, to combine their unique gifts and begin their epic quest to find the Elementals.

In book two, Land Keep, Marcus and Kyja travel with Cascade, a Water Elemental, toward Land Keep, the home of the powerful and wise Land Elementals. However, their journey may end before it even begins. Land Keep is empty, deserted for at least a thousand years, and the rumor is that the creatures who once controlled all land magic are extinct. Marcus and Kyja's only hope seems to lie in finding the Augur Well, a legendary Oracle protected by subtle traps and mind-bending trials. To succeed in their quest, Marcus and Kyja must also avoid the Keepers of the Balance, an order dedicated to redistributing magic to the rich and powerful. And they must travel far underground, where Cascade is unable to follow and where they will be unable to leap to the safety of Earth.

As the Dark Circle closes around them, Marcus and Kyja are faced with the temptation of what they desire most. Sacrifices must be made, and not everyone will survive unscathed.

My Review:
This series continues to amaze me....
It is truly a great fantasy story!
Filled with adventure, friendship, hunger for power, a hint of humor, and twist and turns along the way...and just wait until you read the very last line of the story...OH SO GOOD!
I am anxiously ready to read book 3 ~ Far World: Air Keep!
