Angels

Book Details
Author: Donald W. Parry
Release Date: 2013
Publisher: Deseret Book
Genre: Inspiration

Have you ever thought about angels?
More specifically what powers do they have and how do they help us?

Find answers to these and many other questions about angels in the marvelous book!

Read stories and scriptures of people who have seen and been helped by angels.

Learn what prophets and apostles have to say on the subject of angels.

My favorite chapter was the one that tells how angels can help us overcome addictions, help us gain confidence, and help us during trials and severe hardships. They are there to help bear us up!

I loved this quote:

"Cultivate and be where the Spirit of the Lord is. Make sure that includes your own home or apartment, dictating the kind of art, music, and literature you keep there. If you are endowed, go to the temple as often as your circumstances allow. Remember that the temple arms you with God's power...puts His glory round about you, and gives His angels...charge over you."

We are told that angels are continually surrounding us...
If we are in tune we will feel their light, love and power!

COVER REVEAL for Finding Sheba

A Romantic Thriller by H.B. Moore
Finding Sheba

You get the be the first to see the cover!

An ancient legend is reborn . . .
One that might prove the Bible false.

For centuries, historians have theorized the Queen of Sheba as only a seductive legend, and scholars have debated over the legitimacy of King David or King Solomon. When undercover Israeli agent, Omar Zagouri, stumbles onto a tomb in Northern Jerusalem he unknowingly finds the final clue that threatens to overthrow government claim to the Holy Land, pits wealthy collectors against one another, and sends ruthless archaeologists scrambling to find the queen’s secret burial place. An assassination attempt on the Coptic Pope, His Holiness, Patriarch Stephanus II, is only the first in the chain of lethal crimes. Omar must find a way to prevent the greatest discovery of the century from becoming the most deadly.

Heather B. Moore is the award-winning author of several historical novels which are set in Ancient Arabia and Mesoamerica. She is not old and doesn’t remember the time period, so Google has become a great friend. Although she has spent several years living in the Middle East, she prefers to forget the smells.

Heather writes her historical thrillers under the pen name H.B. Moore so that men will buy her books. She is also the author of two non-fiction books, and several women’s novels including the co-authored series The Newport Ladies Book Club, the anthology series A Timeless Romance Anthology, and the historical romantic suspense novel Heart of the Ocean. These are all written under her real name so that women will buy her books.

Heather graduated from Brigham Young University with a major in Fashion Merchandising and minor in Business Management–which has absolutely nothing to do with writing novels. But at least she can balance a mean checkbook and color-coordinate her kids’ school clothes.

Courting Miss Lancaster

Author: Sarah M. Eden
Release Date: March 2010
Publisher: Covenant Communications
Genre: Regency Romance

IF I HAD TO CHOOSE A FAVORITE SARAH EDEN BOOK
THEN I WOULD SAY IT IS COURTING MISS LANCASTER

I truly LOVE regency romance and it all started with this book!
If you have never read Sarah Eden you are so missing out!
If you have read Sarah Eden then you know exactly what I am talking about!

Harry Windover adores blonde, green-eyed Athena Lancaster, but alas, a penniless man like himself has no hope of winning a young noblewoman’s hand.

To add insult to injury, Athena’s brother-in-law and guardian, the Duke of Kielder, has asked Harry to assist Athena in finding the gentleman of her dreams.

But the lovesick Harry is cunning as well: as the weeks pass, he introduces Athena to suitors who are horrifically boring, alarmingly attached to their mothers, downright rude, astoundingly self-absorbed, and utterly ridiculous.

Athena can’t comprehend why she is having so little success meeting eligible and acceptable gentlemen. Indeed, her circle of admirers couldn’t be less admirable — nothing like the loyal, gentle friend she’s found in Harry.

But how long can Harry’s scheme be hidden before it is discovered? And what will Athena do when she uncovers Harry’s deception?

Escape into a charming regency world in this delightfully romantic comedy of manners that will entertain you to the very last word.

See my reviews of her other books

From the Author:
I'm not normal. I'm an author. I spend enormous amounts of time avoiding responsible things like cooking dinner and doing laundry and making vital phone calls. Instead, I fill my days with making up stories, talking to voices in my head, and laughing hysterically at my own wit. Like I said, I'm not normal.

Heidi is doing a GIVEAWAY on GoodReads
offer ends 7/21

About the Author:
7 years old--Heidi writes her first story.  Its's a hit (with Mom).

10 years old--since her sisters are big Georgette Heyer/Jane Austen fans, she writes a first "regency romance".  Even though she dedicated it to her eldest sister who longed to visit England, she didn't let anyone read it (probably a good idea).

14 years old--she publishes a short story in the kids section of the San Jose Mercury News.  She begins experimenting with pen names but in the end decides to stick with her own.

Age 25-29--she writes a number of regency romance novels, (one of which later becomes Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind)

Age 30--decides to devote her time to her favorite roles of wife and mother, dabbles in the antiques and collectibles market and plants a flower garden.

Age Withheld--at the encourgement of a true blue friend, she submits Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind to Avalon Books and sells it!

Shortly Thereafter--she starts a blog and a website and has a really big party!

The Winds and the Waves

Book Details
Author: Dean Hughes
Release Date: May 2012
Publisher: Deseret Book
Genre: Historical

This book is WONDERFUL!
I LOVE how the author takes one character and then parallels that story with the story of the descendant of that same character... a fun way to portray not only a story, but a family history.

Life has struggles no matter what generation you live in and as you understand your past family history, it helps you with your future determination.

Will is a tenant farmer in 1840 and feels trapped by the economy and social status.
Will's descendant, Jeff, feels trapped by the economy of modern-day and the loss of his job.

Will sets out to find a better life.
Jeff sets out to find a better life.

Will joins the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and set out for the land of Zion.
Jeff finds himself working on a house in Nauvoo, Illinois and finds out it is right across the street from the land Will owned.

Watch as these two try to make the best of life even if they are thrown into "the winds and the waves."

Three quotes I really liked from the book...
"If this life doesn't turn out so well, we have eternity to be with God and feel His happiness."
"Prayer wasn't a good-luck charm,...it was a means of discovering God's will."
"You have to remember what Zion is all about: we're going to raise each other up by working together--not by climbing over one another, the way it's done most of the time in this world."

It is fun to see Jeff display some of his great-grandfathers tendencies!
Also included is some very interesting and inspiring Church history!
An AMAZING read!

heather mFrom the Author:
I have always been passionate about healthy foods and exercising. Growing up in Toronto, Canada I would exhaust my allowance at the health food store and write school papers on spices and herbs. It was no wonder I found myself studying biology at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida.

I loved animals as well so I initially focused on wildlife conservation and animal biology, however, with some exposure to naturopathic medicine, this health care philosophy rang true for me. I switched to pre-med and I graduated in 1993. I earned my doctorate at the from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon before moving with my family to Hawaii where I became licensed and continue to practice today.

Everything I learned in medschool came into fruition when my children were born. I realized the importance of teaching them, by example, about healthy food and lifestyle. Telling them what to eat was not enough, so I created and wrote educational adventure stories that explain the physiological systems in the body. Not only did my kids love the engaging and interactive stories but so did their friends.

I love seeing kids have fun learning to understand their bodies and how food helps them run faster and be smarter. My focus is on preventative health. I am passionate about encouraging families to seek the value of a simple lifestyle and offering tools to assist them at being proactive and confident in their daily living. I am constantly inspired seeing people make positive changes in their lives. With my website, I am excited to reach more families in a way that will manifest healthy living.

Falling Star
Different eyes and skin Mock me from the mirror’s light Enemy am I.

Dec 7, 1941 Today my life changed forever . . .
I am no longer considered American, but by shear heritage I am now the hated enemy . . .

The lives of Kenji and Aiko Onishi and their American-born children are about to unravel when the United States is thrust into war with Japan. Confronted by insurmountable prejudice and fear, the family is ripped from their California home without just cause by the American government and sent to an assembly center “for their own protection.”

Forced to live in deplorable circumstances, every aspect of their lives regulated and controlled, the Onishi’s freedoms are stripped from their grasp as they struggle to survive behind barbed wire.

It isn’t long before the mind-numbing confinement and feelings of helplessness begin to pit the family against one another. When sent to a relocation camp in the center of the Utah desert, they’re beset by ever increasing emotional and physical challenges, and Aiko is faced with her greatest yet: to mend the broken spirits of her family, or risk losing them forever.

Based on true and tragic events that transpired during World War II, Rising Sun, Falling Star is a heart-rending story of one family’s struggle to survive uncalculated loss and emotional destruction.
