WOW! This story is truly incredible!
I cannot even imagine all that happened to this boy!
What an amazing tale of turning something so wrong
into something so worth while--
PHENOMENAL telling!
This man's story is truly a must-read!
LOVED IT!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Based on a remarkable true story of Taj Rowland. Seven-year-old Chellamuthu's life is forever changed when he is kidnapped from his village in India, sold to a Christian orphanage, and then adopted by an unsuspecting couple in the United States. It takes months before the boy can speak enough English to tell his parents that he already has a family back in India. Horrified, they try their best to track down his Indian family, but all avenues lead to dead ends. Meanwhile, they simply love him, change his name to Taj, enroll him in school, make him part of their family--and his story might have ended there had it not been for the pestering questions in his head: Who am I? Why was I taken? How do I get home?
More than a decade later, Taj meets Priya, a girl from southern India with surprising ties to his past. Is she the key to unveil the secrets of his childhood or is it too late? And if he does make it back to India, how will he find his family with so few clues? From the best-selling author of The Rent Collector, this is a deeply moving and gripping journey of discovering one's self and the unbreakable family bonds that connect us forever.
A new series written and illustrated by the illustrator of the Fablehaven series, Brandon Dorman!
Meet the Hooligan brothers who are fun-loving, go-cart racing, up-for-anything boys, and they are expert pranksters! The school bully, Rock, picks on the boys, tries to out-prank them and especially tries to lay blame for his pranks on them. Enter a purple, blobby, friendly outer space alien. He's come to Earth to earn badges for his "extraterrestrial space scout" sash. The brothers name him Hoolie and quickly learn about his alien ways:
* Hoolie gets smelly when he s hungry and that's how the boys know it's time to feed him. He eats clothes, especially socks. Mom and Dad don't know what is going on originally, but then later on, when they become more involved in the situation, they figure out why the family socks are disappearing from the Hooligan house.
* He has a compartment in his belly, like Mary Poppins' carpetbag, that can somehow hold an endless supply of neat gizmos and gadgets.
* The boys can't communicate with him at first and rig up an electronic device to help them read Hoolie's mind.
The Hooligan boys keep Hoolie a secret until he saves a neighborhood girl from a burning building, and the town befriends him. Then a team of mysterious strangers dressed in black who call themselves "Animal Control" arrive, but the Hooligan boys know this can't be true. The boys must resolve their problem with Rock, help Hoolie earn his merit badges on Earth, and help him find his way home before "Animal Control" captures him!"
After finding a compass and clues left by Kallista's father, Leo Babbage, Trenton and Kallista head west aboard their homemade mechanical dragon to search for the missing inventor. The two teenagers hope to find answers about their mountain city of Cove, but instead, they find only a blackened forest, ruined buildings, and a small underground city
Almost immediately, Trenton and Kallista are caught up in a civil war between a clan of scavengers called Whipjacks and the Order of the Beast, people who believe that dragons are immortal and divine.
Stranded in a new city, the two friends meet Plucky, a Whipjack girl with mechanical legs, and Ander, a young member of the Order who claims humans are able to communicate with dragons. Can they trust anyone, or have they unknowingly stepped into a trap?
And high above in the sky, the dragons are gathering . . .
After a medical discharge from his duties in the Napoleonic War, Thomas Quincy Fitzbatten has returned home. Disoriented, burdened by guilt for his wealth, and disillusioned with life's injustices, Thomas longs for a chance to make a difference in the world. But he keeps himself a mystery to those around him, and another motive for his charity gnaws at the back of his mind: to seek redemption from the traumatic demons of war.
Then everything changes at the arrival of Ruth Dawson, the niece of Thomas's butler, a stunning woman with a secret of her own. Thomas graciously offers to assist Ruth in her predicament, but a surprise instinct prompts Thomas to handle the case a little more personally—through marriage.
As their love blossoms, it appears that all will be well—until Thomas receives a mysterious letter from an old friend in trouble, compelling him to the rescue.
But what will Thomas do when nothing is as it seems? And why can't Ruth shake the feeling that her destiny is intertwined with Thomas's in a way they could never have imagined?
