Uncovering Cobbogoth
by Hannah L. Clark

Norah Lukens needs to uncover the truth about the fabled lost city of Cobbogoth.

After her archaeologist uncle’s murder, Norah is asked to translate his old research journal for evidence and discovers that his murder was a cover-up for something far more sinister.

When she turns to neighbor and only friend James Riley for help, she realizes that not only is their bitter-sweet past haunting her every step, but James is keeping dangerous secrets.

Can Norah discover what they are before its too late to share her own.

Praise for Uncovering Cobbogoth
"With a fascinating protagonist in Norah Lukens, a fully realized, never before seen fantasy world, and a fast paced, compelling story, Uncovering Cobbogoth establishes Hannah L. Clark as a major new voice in American fiction. The richness of the story and the scope of the world she's created screams for a film adaptation. This is a fantasy novel for everyone, even readers not usually drawn to the genre. Highly, highly recommended!" -Bryce Clark, author of Red Shirt Kids

"This book takes you on a wonderful ride, bringing myth and legend to life. The characters are full and flawed, with a sweet romance woven through the adventure." - Annette K. Larsen, author of Just Ella

"Uncovering Cobbogoth is an Icelandic tale that will appeal to many Harry Potter series fans […] For those who’ve missed the Harry Potter world, here’s a pretty good alternative!" - Sharon Haddock, For the Deseret News

Excerpt
The Legend of the Cobbogothians is really where Uncovering Cobbogoth begins. For as long as Norah can remember, her Uncle Jack has been obsessed with the mythical people. He became an archeologist and world famous Myth-chaser because of the Cobbogothian legends he heard while visiting his Granddad Aegissida’s farm in Iceland.

The Legend of the Cobbogothians
Long ago, at the beginning of time, a peculiar race ruled the earth. They found favor in the eyes of the gods and received great gifts of knowledge and power at their hands. These gifts made them elementalists—masters of earth, wind, fire, water, metal, wood and space. The elementalists thenceforth became rulers of the earth and sky. With this power came corruption, and the elementalists soon forgot their patron gods. Instead, they turned to worshipping themselves and their own creations. This angered the gods, and in their wrath, the vowed to bring an icy end to the prideful race. Rumors of the looming destruction were heralded throughout the land, and a final invitation was issued to the elementalists to renounce their fallen ways. Yet only a few heard and heeded. Among them was a man named Cobbogoth. Being a wise and humble servant of the gods, he believed the warnings and led all who would listen deep into the bowels of the earth to wait out the approaching storm. When the day of destruction was come and the wrath of the gods rained down, the race of elementalists was wiped away, and then came the dawning of a violent and frigid ide age. It is said that Cobbogoth’s posterity still lives beneath our feet, waiting to rise and rule the earth and sky once more. Sigurd Jorgensson Icelandic Bard, 1045 AD   *Translated from the original Old Norse by Dr. Jack A. Lukens of Harvard University, April 1975

About the Author
Hannah L. Clark lives with her husband and their son in the Rocky Mountains. She has always known she would be a storyteller. In 2006 she graduated from Utah Valley University with a bachelor’s degree in English and immediately began writing Uncovering Cobbogoth, the first book in a seven book series based on Clark's mythological brain-child, the Icelandic Legend of the Cobbogothians. Clark loves her family, running, mythology, laughing, soulful bluegrass music, road-trips, studying alternative medicine, retro hairdos, and growing things. Like her heroine Norah, she also kind of believes trees have souls, but must clarify (for her parents' sakes) that she was not raised by hippies. ;-)

The best way to describe Laura Bingham would be as a mom, teacher, dancer, and author. Her first published works include a middle-grade fantasy, Älvor, released in 2009, and its sequel, Wings of Light, 2011. And yes, there’s a last installment that’s nearly finished.

As a full-time science teacher, Laura never has to leave the wonder of teenage-hood. Not only does she adore teens, have teens, and teach teens, but she loves writing about being a teen. When she’s not doing a million other things, she sneaks in a good book, and sometimes runs off with her family for a weekend getaway to Cascade.

And just so she never gets bored, she directs and teaches the Boise Cloggers, a studio she’s owned for over twenty years. She lives in Boise, Idaho, with her amazing husband and five awesome kids.

About the Author
I make stuff up.
Then I write it down.
I publish the good bits.

I never really grew out of playing pretend or sitting cross-legged on the rug for storytime. Depending on my mood, I’m either four years old or eighteen or eighty.

I like cats. My cat told me so.

I geek out. A lot. And I’m really jazzed that geekery has widened to include more than Linux and gaming. (Not that there’s anything wrong with Linux or gaming. But there’s more out there, you know?) So what do I geek out on?

Food. I like really good, really interesting food. Especially food that doesn’t freak out my overactive immune system. Stupid allergies!

Art. But only the art I like. The art that tells me stories. Art that’s just…there…being art…doesn’t really excite me. Yeah, I know, I just don’t understand it. Whatever. Dragons, Fairies, Unicorns, and landscapes with paths to somewhere…Good Stuff. Random shapes that don’t make any sense? Not so much.

Travel. Not the “crash on my sister’s couch” kind of travel. Really nice resort with on-property spa travel. I would totally switch places with Samantha Brown.

Historically Accurate Gowns. If I thought I could get away with it, I’d probably dress like it was 1895. Or 1137. Or any time in between. What can I say? Clothes were prettier then (at least if you were wealthy enough to afford the good stuff)!

Old Houses. Especially Victorians. And castles. Well…replica castles with modern insulation and plumbing.

Oh – and I drink absurd amounts of coffee.

Meet Tristi Pinkston w/ eBook Giveaway

Tristi Pinkston is the author of twenty published books, including the bestsellers "Dearly Departed" and "Dialogue Dynamics."

She works as a freelance editor and author mentor, and when she's not writing, editing, or homeschooling her children, she enjoys reading, watching good movies, and taking really long naps.

She eats ice, which she realizes is very bad for her teeth but she does it anyway, and she can't write without a tube of Chapstick nearby.

Visit her website at www.tristipinkston.com

She is also the owner of Trifecta Books
When asked WHY she started Trifecta this is what she posted on Facebook:

"The books for Saturday's launch are stacked up at the foot of my bed, all set to go. My daughter wandered in and said, "Mom, can I read this one?" taking a book out of the case on top. I said, "Yes. You can read anything you want. I will never publish a book you can't read." And that is why I started a publishing company. Because I have a daughter who has chosen to read good books, and I want to help provide them :)"

Tristi will be releasing a new young adult comedy, "Take My Advice," through Trifecta Books this fall, and she will also be releasing a new edition of her first-ever published book, "Nothing to Regret," this summer.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tristi is an AMAZING person! I have worked with her for a while now over the internet...
It was SO FUN meeting her in person!
She was taking the day to focus on the Trifecta authors and therefore did not have any of her own books to sign.
So...
I am doing an eBOOK GIVEAWAY of her
AGENT IN OLD LACE :)
When Shannon learns Mark's secret, he turns on her, and Shannon's life abruptly goes from perfect to perilous.
In an effort to protect Shannon, the FBI assigns their only female agent to go undercover as her personal bodyguard. But when the agent is injured the day before the assignment, they turn to the next best thing: their top agent, Rick Holden, in a dress.
Life seems safe again for Shannon with Rick by her side and Mark apparently gone for good. Then Shannon gets word that her best friend has been kidnapped, and it becomes clear that Mark isn't going to stop any time soon. Shannon realizes the only way to save herself and her friend and stop Mark once and for all is by sending Rick, her only source of protection, away.
True Colors
True Colors
Landry Albright enters a modeling competition with her two best friends, but runs into jealousy when she advances to the next level without them.
Enter the gorgeous Devon, who also makes the first cut of the modeling contest. Devon seems like the perfect new best friend, but can their friendship survive the competition?
Throw in a new boy, jealousy and loyalty issues, and insults from hair stylists. How’s a girl to deal?
Excerpt The competition was for girls between the ages of thirteen and seventeen, but it felt like Ericka, Tori, and I were the youngest ones there. I only saw a couple of girls from school, and the lineup looked more like something you’d see on a music video set.
All the girls were gorgeous, and they had these curvy womanly bodies. I looked like a skinny little kid next to them. The first girl walked out, and I heard the judges say she “owned the runway,” and, “walked like a gazelle.” I was starting to feel ill. I wasn’t sure which way it was going to come, but I knew I had to find a bathroom — fast.
I started to get out of line when Ericka grabbed my wrist. “It’s almost time,” she said. A tiny bit of spit flew out of her mouth and hit my cheek. I wasn’t sure why she was so intent on me going through with it, but she had a death grip on my arm, so I didn’t have much of a choice.
Her number was called and she walked out to the stage. One of the other girls said she walked like a kid with sand bucket stilts on her feet, but she came back with a smirk on her face like she knew she’d get chosen. “They said they had never seen such long legs,” she said. Tori was next. “She walks like a gorilla at feeding time,” said the girl behind me.
I went next, and I tried to focus on not tripping over my feet. My mom’s pumps had a rubber sole on the bottom, which probably wasn’t the brightest idea seeing as my shoes were making squeaking noises as I walked. I was so nervous I couldn’t stop smiling as I walked. I looked like the plastic clown who blows up balloons with its mouth at the Pizza Palace.
When I got to the end of the runway, I tried to cross my feet to turn like the other girls had, but I over rotated and ended up doing a full spin which made my kilt fan out and gave the mall walkers a view of my blue underpants. I tried to act like it was intentional and did an extra turn. One of the judges put her hand up to stop me, and I held my breath as she started to speak.add to goodreads
Authors: Mike Ericksen and Sage Steadman
Release Date: June 2013
Publisher: Empath Media
Genre: Historical Fiction
Sacrifice, Love, and Courage.
These are the things that the Willie and Martin Handcart company travelers had!
This book is a REMARKABLE telling of one family joining one group that came across one ocean and embarked on one incredible journey.
Your heart will be touched as you read the encounter of the Ole Madsen family.
They "answered the call of the early leaders" to gather to Zion.
A place far away from their homeland of Denmark.
At the time the Saints were crossing the plains with only handcarts as they were easier and faster.
But that also meant the saints had to walk the 1,300 miles and leave behind most of their possessions.
The Madsen family was assigned to the Willie Company...the company that left late in the season, ran out of food rations, and had to endure harsh winter storms.
As author and descendant Mike Ericksen searches for his great-grandmother Marie.
He feels a powerful connection to her as he too is enduring life's trials.
He gains great strength in knowing that we must all make hard decisions and become to our family the "true heroes" that they can look up to.
A BOOK YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT DOWN!
SO. SO. SO. GOOD!
LOVED IT!
The MUSIC CD is BEAUTIFUL!
"Mike Ericksen has previously chronicled the amazing story of his family’s roots through song and speaking engagements at LDS firesides across the country.
Now the engrossing stories of his ancestors and the lessons he’s learned in pursuit of their legacy are finally available in Upon Destiny’s Song.
The kindle version of this book does not come with a music CD."
Seeds of Faith: Conversion Stories from Early Church History
2 comments
Book Details
Author: Dan Barker
Release Date: June 2014
Publisher: Cedar Fort, Inc.
Genre: History
I LOVE conversion stories!
I find them very faith promoting and helpful in defining my own convictions.
I LOVE reading about miracles and visions and circumstances that shaped the thoughts and feelings of the early converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
These converts lived in a time of "religious liberalism vs. orthodoxy...a period of dynamic contrasts in religious beliefs, fiery sermons, and real people."
Today we call it "a time of restoration."
This book has "forty-eight journal accounts" of those that were there during this period....
You will read about their encounters with missionaries, Joseph Smith, heavenly messengers, and what has been termed as "the Golden Bible."
These accounts are from real people telling a marvelous happening in their lives...
Something that happened to them that will help "strengthen your testimony" and develop the "seeds of (your) faith."
A BOOK WORTH READING!
  Deadly Fun
by Pam Richter
To everyone aboard the luxury cruise ship, Dan and Linda Duncan are the perfect couple; married, gorgeous, and in love.
But Lo is actually working in disguise and undercover, with an assumed identity.
She routinely uses her unusual beauty to seek out information for an independent detective agency associated with the FBI.
Her boss understands she has a checkered past, with time spent in prison, but she's also smart, and has a law degree.
During this investigation of a deadly enforcer for the Mob, they discover murderous ties to Linda’s own family.
By the end of the voyage she has chased suspects through the tropical islands, been in physical confrontations with knife, fist and firearms; the deck is awash in blood.
Can she survive the deadly fun cruise—and her boss—who may prove more deadly than the Mafia men she uncovers?
Praise from Amazon Reviewers A fun read, yes. Darkness, danger, and death lurk within the labyrinth of corridors, passageways, and public attractions spread throughout the upper and lower decks of a large cruise ship. Exciting, page turning! Passengers with hidden identities and agenda. Mafia mayhem. A little romance and a lot of action. Pamela Richter keeps you wanting more. Deadly Fun was a fabulous book. I loved how the characters were so easy to fall in love with. I felt like I was reading a wonderful spy adventure that took place on a cruise ship. Who says it is against the rules to fall in love with a co-worker. Lo and Lance fight their feelings for one another over the course of this book.
Author P.M. Richter Pamela Richter lives in West Hollywood, California. She has a degree in Psychology from Northridge University.
